FAMILY MURDERS

FAMILY MURDERS

A True Crime Documentary Series Hosted by Stefano Nazzi

Thursday, October 26, in Prime Time on Rai2

Starting Thursday, October 26, Rai2 will air “Family murders,” a series of true crime documentaries hosted by Stefano Nazzi, one of Italy’s most renowned journalists and podcast authors on crime stories. This three-part series (3×90 minutes each) delves into three infamous and emblematic family murders: the cases of Melania Rea, Lorys Stival, and the Carretta family. The series examines the tragic reality of homicides occurring within the seemingly safe and happy confines of family homes, revealing underlying themes of pain, aggression, dominance, and violence.

The series will explore the distressing trend of family homicides, a significant portion of the decreasing overall homicide rate in Italy. Despite a drastic reduction in the total number of homicides over the past three decades (from 1,476 in 1992 to 314 in 2022), approximately 50% of these crimes continue to be committed within familial relationships. “Family murders” sheds light on these unsettling statistics through in-depth examinations of specific cases.

“Family murders” offers a deep dive into some of the most disturbing family murders in recent Italian history, combining meticulous investigative work with compelling storytelling to uncover the complex emotional and psychological landscapes behind these tragic events.
